Porsche has revealed the extensively modified Taycan. Along with minor adjustments to the outside and inside, the 2024 model year has seen significant upgrades to the vehicle’s range and powerplant. A variety of other standard features are also included, such as the new Porsche Driver Experience with an improved display. There are four powertrain options available for the three Taycan versions—the Taycan saloon, Taycan Cross Turismo, and Taycan Sport Turismo—with choices for both rear- and all-wheel drive. Nevertheless, the 2024 Taycan is scheduled to be on sale at Porsche Centers in the spring of this year.
2024 Porsche Taycan: Range, Power Output, And Charging
First off, compared to the original Taycan, the new model has a 35% longer range. Based on the kind of body, the new WLTP range can now reach up to 678 kilometers. Thanks to a new battery pack that has 105kWh instead of the previous model’s 93kWh.
With a WLTP range of 503-678 km, the entry-level Taycan can now reach 100 mph in 4.8 seconds, which is 0.6 seconds faster than the previous model. The range-topping Taycan Turbo S, on the other hand, is said to reach 100 mph from a standstill in an astounding 2.4 seconds, which is 0.4 quicker than its predecessor. Furthermore, it has a WLTP range of 558–630 km.
A 95PS increase is possible for the Taycan with the Sport Chrono package’s new push-to-pass capability, depending on the model. For example, the Taycan Turbo S now offers an extra 190PS with the launch control function, while the entry-level Taycan generates 82PS more than before. This raises the Turbo S’s total system output to 952 PS.
Porsche’s charging speed has also been upgraded. The updated Taycan can now be charged at 800V DC charging stations at up to 320kW, which is 50kW more than it could have with its previous model. According to the firm, the new battery pack can sustain charging capabilities exceeding 300kW for a maximum of five minutes, even in cold circumstances. Even with its greater battery size, the new Taycan takes only 18 minutes to charge from 10% to 80% at 15 degrees Celsius, compared to 37 minutes for the previous model.
2024 Porche Taycan: Suspension, Powertrain, And Equipment Highlights
Adaptive air suspension will be standard on all Taycan variants starting in 2024, while all-wheel drive cars can opt for the new Porsche Active Ride suspension. For instance, the maximum recovery capacity—which was previously rated at 290kW—has risen by around 30% to 400kW while descending from high speeds. Additionally, all models now come equipped with standard low-rolling-resistance tires and aerodynamically optimized wheels. The company created new 21-inch wheels and tires, especially for this use.
Compared to the Taycan Turbo S, it is now up to 15 kilometers lighter. Along with these standard features, the EV also has powered folding ORVMs with mirror surround lighting, Porsche Intelligent Range Manager (PIRM), heated front seats, wireless charging, drive mode switch, power steering plus, ambient lighting, heated front seats, and a heat pump with a new cooling system. Park assist with a reversing camera is also included. On the other hand, aluminum door sill guards and adaptive air suspension are standard on the entry-level Taycan.
2024 Porsche Taycan Design And Interior
The vehicle has been upgraded with new, smaller headlights and taillights, revamped bumpers, and a 3D Porsche emblem at the back that now features welcome and departure animations. Furthermore, the distinctive four-point images are now displayed at night thanks to the new HD matrix technology with detailed optics. Additionally, the Turbo and Turbo S models are distinguished from the other variants by the unique Turbonite accent trim.
The central information center, driver display, and optional passenger display all have an improved user interface with more features within. Users may stream videos to the infotainment system and the passenger display using the In-Car Video feature. There is a new push-to-pass button on the mode switch for Taycan cars that come with the Performance Battery Plus and the Sport Chrono package. The driver assistance systems are accessed by the new control lever located on the left, behind the steering wheel. Not to mention, Porsche upgraded its technology to allow for more comprehensive Apple CarPlay integration.
